Broomball (also known as broom hockey) is a popular ice sport in the midwest and northeast. For the final segment in our Alt Fitness show, we invited the editors from “Men’s Health” and “Women’s Health” magazines to hit the ice with Ashley to burn some calories and learn this unique activity.

Broomball is played indoors on an ice hockey rink or outdoors on frozen ponds or lakes. For our story, we traveled to Lakeside Prospect Park just outside of New York city.

The object of the game is like hockey. Two teams try hit a ball into the opposing teams net. But instead of sticks and skates, they get a broomsticks and tennis shoes.

The challenge is not only scoring, but staying on your feet. That includes cameramen trying to film the segment.
